By no means, this is not something to use INSTEAD of a spoon, but for sheer convenience it can't be beat. My son LOVES to see this come out, because he knows we're going out for the day and he will still get his sweet potatoes (or pears, peaches, bananas, peas, etc, etc, etc). I love being able to give him solid food on the go without mess or having to stop everything to try to wrangle a wiggly 10 month old and a spoon and bowl. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!
