Say goodbye to disposable coffee cups - I love this thermos! July 10, 2008 L. Manes (Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this thermos to use for both hot and cold beverages. I chose a wide-mouth thermos instead of a traditional Sigg waterbottle so I could put ice cubes in it, which stay FROZEN for HOURS. No more lukewarm water on the soccer field! Since it's stainless steel and doesn't absorb flavors, I also use it for my tea, steamed milk, etc. and it's awesome. I now take it to the coffee shop and ask them to use this mug instead of treated paper cups. It has made a big difference in how long my drink stays hot as well as the taste... and is of course better for the environment. I also toss it, full of hot tea, into my laptop bag and it hasn't leaked a drop, even when sideways. The only downside to this thermos is that it really should't go in the dishwasher, but the inside is very smooth so it's not difficult to clean properly with a sponge or pot brush. Yes, it's a pricey design piece, but I have used it nonstop for a month and it's still like new, so I consider it to be a worthwhile investment.
Slim Sigg! June 19, 2008 D. R. Mcbean It's great! (As many reviewers said, it's a thermos flask, not a mug - the opening isn't designed to be drunk from) But it's fantastic, light, robust, and elegant design!
Perfect for what I have planned May 16, 2008 K. Bailey "Thermos" is probably a better discription for this product. It will be replacing my nalgene/cosy bottle when I go backpacking, keeping water HOT for 6-8 hrs instead of 45 min. This will allow me to cook more things than just oatmeal and some frieze dried soups. Weight is a little more than double, with the Sigg mug weighing about 10oz, but with all the other things I will be able to "cook" because boiling water is staying hotter longer in this bottle, the weight is worth it. The mouth of the mug is about 2.25", about the same as the wide mouth nalgene, and no worries about any chemical leaching (like that was keeping me awake at night). The bottle is a little deep to reach the bottom with a standard size spoon, but overall I like it.
Not a Travel Mug February 23, 2008 Michael G. Lowe (Ames, IA USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Like many posts here I'll have to agree that this is no travel mug - it is a thermos. The one difference in this thermos is that it has a wider opening to be able to drink from. The top caps only function is to 'cap' the middle piece. The middle piece, that many seam to thing you drink from, serves only as a pressure release cap but nothing beyond that. You do not drink from the middle piece! To be a considered a MUG, Sigg needs to redesign the top, go with a slightly larger circumference so that it would not move about in our cars cup holder. You leave the cap off and you WILL have fluid all over you car. It will take two hands to open this thermos which is not good for driving. One thing is fore sure... this thermos does hold temperature really well. The paint is also fabulous. Would I buy it again? For the price probably not. It needs to be labeled a THERMOS.
Greatest mug ever! February 8, 2008 Desert Island Books (Michigan) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Ok so when I first bought this a few months ago I was somewhat disappointed. From the description on the box I thought that it would be a mug I could drink from while driving/riding the bus, etc. When I got it however I thought it was just basically a thermos since it didn't have a pour spout or anything to drink out of without removing the whole lid. I just realized that there is a small removable rubber button in the bottom of the lid that when removed opens a drinking hole. I loved this thing before and it's even better now. It keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold, can get thrown in my bag and toted around for hours without spilling, it's fantastic. I love sigg products and highly recommend this item.
